Meet the Author

Douglas K. Shaw is a co-owner of Douglas Shaw & Associates, Inc. (DSA) a prominent fundraising consulting firm located in Naperville, Illinois. He has been involved in raising funds for Christian nonprofits for the last 30+ years, raising hundreds of millions of dollars for more than 300 nonprofit organizations and ministries. His passions are his faith, family, a thriving business, reading history and fly fishing. He is a graduate of Simpson University, San Francisco, CA, where he earned a B.A. in history in 1975, and did his graduate work at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA, where he earned a Master of Arts in Theology in 1980.

Today, Doug serves as the Chairman of the Board/CEO of the company. He is a sought after speaker on fundraising and leadership. His informal, personal style appeals to audiences of all types and he is invited to return to almost every venue where he speaks.

Doug has conducted special events with entertainment and political celebrities such as George and Barbara Bush, James and Susan Baker, Franklin Graham, Lloyd Ogilvie, Pat Boone, Art Linkletter, and former Congressman J. C. Watt. He produced endorsement radio and television commercials with former President Ronald Reagan.

Doug’s commitment to ethical fundraising has earned him a reputation as a straight shooter and an effective practitioner of the Rules of Fundraising. He was encouraged by his clients and colleagues in the philanthropic community to write this book.
